There are many different types of application to come to the UK that are designed specifically for business people and business purposes. The UK values the contribution that business immigration can make to the UK economy. There are different types of application for individuals, including visas for business people who want to work for themselves or in a partnership in the UK, or to set up a company. There is also the Highly Skilled Migrants Programme (see 'HSMP' section), and specific applications for artists, writers, composers and other people working in the arts or media.

"Business Investors" - Those willing to invest a minimum of £200,000 of their own money to establish a business, or to take over control of an existing business.
The suitable applicant will need to invest the money, employ two qualifying employees or increase the number of staff already employed by two qualifying employees. In addition there are a number of other requirements.

"Sole representative" applications (see Corporate Representative section) are for people who want to come to the UK to be the first representative of a foreign company and establish a UK office.

Companies based in the UK can apply for work permits to bring foreign workers to the UK (see also the 'Work Permits' section).
